Board
Short for Mixing Board, a tool for combining multiple audio sources to one signal
Broadcast
Data will be sent from one point of the network to all other points.

Cast/Podshow
A single part of the whole podcast.
Categories
Podcasts are grouped into categories. This helps you finding the right podcast for you.
Popular categories: Podcast.com - categories. Also: Podcast-Directories
Client
A computer program which uses the resources of a server.

Enhanced Podcast
These podcasts also contain pictures and links. If a web page is mentioned in the podcast a picture of the web page appears.
Enclosures
These extensions describe ways, with which RSS 2.0 can link to the media file. Podcast clients can recognize those extensions and automatically download the file, to which the link leads.

Feed
A special expression for a "sender" in the podcasting scene.

Headset
Headsets are headphones with an integrated microphone. They are often used with a computer or a cellphone.

iPod
A very popular MP3-Player from Apple.
iTunes
A freeware audio player from Apple with podcast-support. This program was one of the reasons why podcasts became that popular.

Microphone
Technical support tool to record audio. Used in recording studios, at concerts and when you are playing SingStar ;-)
Multicast
The same as a broadcast, but here the data package will not be sent to every point in the network, it is just sent to destinated points.

Newsfeed
The part (or parts) of a web page which you can subscribe to.

On Pod
Offered contribution or live-show.

Podcast-Directory
On web pages, where podcasts are offered, directories will be made (e.g.: Sports, Computer, TV,...).

The person or group who made the podcast.
Podcatcher
Programs that are specialized to receiving podcasts. These programs are maybe also able to play the received podcast (e.g.: iTunes)
Podiobook
Audio books as podcasts.
Podjockey/PodJ
The presenter or producer of the podcast.
Podosphere, Podcastosphere
Community of all those who offer and publish podcasts in the internet.
Podproducer
A software tool to create RSS-Feeds and/or shows.
Podserie
A series of podcasts that match together concerning their content.
Podspace
The storage space for podcasts and their RSS-Feeds.
Podsafe
Creations (like music) which you are allowed to use in your podcasts without getting problems with the copyright laws.
Podzine
A magazine that reports about podcasts or the podcasting-scene. These magazines can be printed or offered electronically.

RSS (Really Simple Syndication)
A file in the XML-Format. It contains information about the content, the producer, the date of creation and similar info. This is the feed you can subscribe to.

Shownotes
The plan which lists the order of podcasts. The producers use this plan as a help for knowing where they are in the podcast.

Outside recordings of a podcast.
Speech Synthesizing
The process of creating human voice with a computer or synthesizer. Example: Microsoft Sam
